Kenwood TS-830M follows in the tradition of the successful TS-820S. It is designed for SSB and CW modes in the 160 through 10 meter ham bands, and additionally includes the 30, 17 and 12 meter WARC bands.

Power input is 220 watts PEP SSB and 180 watts DC CW. The finals are a pair of 6146B tubes. (This transceiver does not have general coverage receiver ).
