"Pioneer is claiming its first internal 16X dual-format DVD burner is the fastest to date. However, with writing speeds of 16X for DVD+R/-R, 4X for DVD+R DL (single-sided double-layer), 4X for DVD+RW/-RW, 32X for CD-R and 24X for CD-RW, the DVR-A08 (148x198x42.3mm, 1.1kg) can in fact be bettered by NEC's ND3500A, which is quicker at writing to CD-R media (48X maximum). Having said that, Pioneer's DVR-A08 is visually more attractive and comes with an adjusting utility that allows you to manually select the disc rotation mode (Quite, Performance and Standard)."
